Saswata Deb is an emergency physician and clinician scientist at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. His research is focused on cardiovascular emergencies and identifying racial disparities in healthcare delivery. In addition to research, he enjoys teaching trainees. Saswata was born in India and moved to Canada when he was 10. He did his medical training and completed a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto. After graduating medical school at the University of Toronto, Dr. Caine spent 4 years in Calgary where he completed his residency in Family Medicine and a third year of training in Emergency Medicine. During his final year in Calgary he worked in the emergency departments of both the regional trauma centre at Foothills Hospital and Peter Lougheed Hospital. He returned to Toronto in July 2010 and worked both the UHN and North York General Hospital.  He currently is working in London at the London Health Sciences Centre.
